A little over a week ago, most Canadians had never heard of usage-based billing for Internet and likely thought a cap was something to wear on your head. What started as a single blog post protesting the CRTC’s decision — which effectively ended any unlimited flat-rate Internet plans in Canada — grew into a grassroots campaign flooding the Internet and the airwaves until finally reaching the prime minister’s office. And the campaign that may well topple the CRTC decision — at least for now, while it’s being reviewed — had its start in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
